There is a time for laughter,
And there is a time for tears.
For each of us has happy days,

We should always remember that
this too, will pass away.

IN MEMORIAM

Dear Classmates,

Please remember his warmth; his gentle humor; his
consideration of others. Danny possessed these charac-
teristics in abundance.

Daniel J. Collins
1961-1976

CHRYSTAL IMAGES

It's one of those nights, I'm awake and I wonder

"is this all there is to life?"
then I picture myself, a bold young girl,

searching for paradise.

The rainbows will sparkle around me and you
The great open sky will be tremendously blue.

We would be what we wanted to be,
young and careless, happy and free

Instead I find a world I won't miss,
And ask myself "how'd I get into this,"

Fresh out of school and legal of age
Dreaming of the fantasy's in a storybook page.

Trying to be me and identifying myself.
Sometimes putting that storybook back on its shelf.

Deciding on whether to work or not,
My mind said school, so work I forgot.

Gathering at night with some friends of mine,
The days are not sunny, but I feel the sunshine.

We all had our visions, reality it seemed,
Come to find out it had been only dreams.

We grew up together the attitudes the same,
Not knowing that life was this sort of game.

The security and trust we had as a child,

Has been long forgotten, it's been quite a while.

We never had to worry cuz ma-ma was near,

And nowhere in the world was better comfort than there.

We're now old enough, to get drunk as hell,
To take good advice, and give it as well.

Partying will come, and we'll watch it go,
We all get so burnt, cause we can't say no.

So once again we start a new day,

Not knowing what fate will bring our way.

We've problems and worries we've got to defeat,
Responsibilities and progress, we want to meet.

I still think of the fantasies and rainbows at times,
And the storybook life that had once been mine.

The only disappointment you have not heard,
Is that I really wanted to be a Free-Bird.

Flying in the sunny blue skies playing games,
Knowing that this Bird you cannot change!!!

Betty Anne Burke
